I’ve Missed You

What a lovely facebook post I was tagged in yesterday by the lovely Tara Cain over at Sticky Fingers.  It really brought me back to the time when blogging was fun, less competitive and we were just moms with with kids looking for ways to connect with each other, to laugh and cry about all the wonderful and sometimes painful things happening in our day to day lives. Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking the bloggers who have monetized their blogs, more power to you, I just miss the simplicity of it all.

Nickie from Typecast struck a chord when she said it can still be that, you just have to not care about everything else and just blog.  Thank you Nickie!

So… this morning I got up, grabbed my grumpy mug, my generic kuerig… It’s a HamiltonBeach, but it has Hamilton in the title, that has to count for something, right?  I digress… Where was I? Oh yes! My Natural bliss pumpkin pie creamer, and I decided I was going to say I MISSED YOU!

I don’t know if you missed me, but I really miss the late night writing and waking up to find all the lovely comments of support, making friendships, many of which I still have on facebook.  I find myself smiling and my heart swelling when I see how much our kids have grown and how lovely they all are.  I miss the laughs, the humor and most of all I miss the relief of knowing there were and are moms out there who were just like me!

So what have we been up to these last few years?  Well, I went back to work and I’m currently employed in a high school.  I’m not a teacher, but don’t tell the officer who pulled me over yesterday because he thought I was and decided not to give me a ticket for that reason… I’ll save that story for tomorrow! My husband is still an insurance adjuster, but recently changed companies. Meg is growing up far to quickly and is, as always, my hero!  Daisy our fabulous dog is getting older and likes to hide in the bathroom when storms come, peeking her head out from behind the shower curtain like the nosey neighbor does from behind the blinds.  Finally, we have a new addition to the family… Dave The Diva, our chubby little hamster, who likes to keep me up at night with his squeaky wheel!  I might have to do a blog post about the things you don’t think about when you’re sucked into buying that adorable, fluffy, little rodent!

I know I’ve said it before, reference my last few posts, but I think I’m back! Yep! I think I’m going to give the blogging thingy a go again!  I’m not going to self host or worry about stats and  I might drive Nickie crazy with my poor grammar, but if you’re interested in watching how I slide through life one banana peel at a time (did you like that little nod to my tag line? Yes I’m that corny!) I would love to follow you and if you would like me to follow you put your link in the comments and till next time…

Disclaimer: I was not paid for nor asked to endorse the products in the crappy picture above… you’re welcome Disney, HamiltonBeach, and Natural Bliss!

PS. Thanks Tara for the look back and the reminder of why I loved blogging. *kisses*

PPS. Wow… my blog needs a little dusting!  I may have to give it a face lift!

Biannual Blogathoning My Way Back Into Blogging

I’ve been MIA from my blog lately, just wasn’t feeling it for whatever the reason,  so what better way to get back into it?

Join a Blogathon!

WHAT?

Yes… you heard me correctly!

I think I’ve officially lost my mind, but I’m going to give it a go and see if I can get my creative juices flowing again!

So, what is a Blogathon or better yet what is the “Biannual Blogathon Bash”?

Well it’s a weekend of endless blogging, not necessarily writing, it can also be getting your blog in order.  For a better explanation click HERE.

So, what are this Florida girl’s goals for this Blogathon?

  1. Get my blog in order –  There are a couple of topics I’ve been wanting to cover and organizing that content will be a big part of what I’m working on this weekend.
  2. Working on the aesthetics of my blog –  Be honest what do you think about the overall look of my blog? Leave me a comment!
  3.  Meet new bloggers –  Yep that means if you comment below I’ll be visiting your blog too!
  4. Rearranging my banana hammock –  Not as sordid as it sounds… It’s the place where I keep the other blogs I like to visit and it’s outdated and due for a dusting.
  5.  To self host or not to self host that is the question?
  6.  Should I stay or should I go – Weeding out and re-categorizing old blog posts!
  7. Use fewer exclamation marks –  I’ve become obsessed with them!

DOH!

See there I go again, I can’t help myself!

Arrrgh…

This goal might prove a little challenging.

Okay, that does it for now, I think I have my work cut out for me this weekend!

I’ll close with a big thank you and nice to meet you to the organizers.  Thanks for the awesome badge and fingers crossed this is the push I needed to get back to doing what I love!

Tampa Bloggers Have Got Swagger!

This past Saturday I said stuff it to my anxiety and attended my first Blogger Meetup held at The Pub in Tampa International Plaza!

My sister-in-law, Denise over at RunDMT, had learned the Tampa Blogher Meetup she’d attended in previous years wasn’t going to occur this year and graciously decided to step up and make it happen.

I looked over the list of people attending wondering if I’d recognize anyone and was excited to see Morningside Mom and Clarisa from TBO who I follow on twitter.  I was a complete bundle of nerves at the thought of meeting them both in person as I’m a fan! Truth be told  I was giddy at the chance to meeting all of the bloggers!  I felt much like a kid on their first day of school all excited and nervous at the same time.

So with Susie from Hide N Go Scrap and my sister Karen from If I Could Escape in tow we headed off to Tampa!

Upon our arrival we were greeted by our host Denise and introduced to Cheeky Sweetie and her hubby for the first time, who were both lovely.  I was equally excited when Caroline aka Morningside Mom arrived along with Erika from Southern. Fried. Lives as they both were fabulous and I immediately started to feel more at ease.

Slowly other bloggers like Clarissa from TBO, Maria from Uncharted Waters, Raffi from Running Betty and her hubby Brian of Digital Running trickled in I knew it was going to be a great experience!   An ice breaker in which you had to guess the blogger behind the blog made getting to know each other that much easier.

Our guest speaker was Chris Angulo of Vology Data Systems who talked to us about branding our blogs so that they become relevant in search engines and even touched on the ever so hush-hush Google+ which at the moment is only accessible by invite!  After he was done we were all encouraged to share what we’d learned, mingle and ask lots of questions.

Meg-a-moo and her cousin were also there having dinner with their daddy’s and patiently waiting for it all to be over so they could drag us through the mall! They made a few appearances to show off their spoon balancing skills.

Did I already mention how amazing everyone was?  Well… they were! *Grin*

They were all so down to earth, fun and easy to talk to which made my first blogger meetup unforgettable and reinforced my belief that Tampa Bloggers have got some swagger!

Ooo speaking of swag…

Some local businesses were kind enough to hook us up with some freebies!

So a very big THANK YOU to:

I'm feeling the love and loving the bling

PhotobucketOh my goodness, what a pleasant and welcomed surprise this morning from Jen over at Sprite’s Keeper who bestowed on me another piece of bling for my blog, I’m sooo feeling the love right now.   Thank You Jen you made my day!

On a serious note I would like to say a big Thank you, as I do love the wonderful, ego boosting comments that my readers leave for me and sometimes it’s just nice to know your not the only “cuckoo for cocoa puffs” mom out there (you owe me one General Mills).  So on that note, according to the rules below,  I must go forth and share the love by bestowing the bling upon seven other “Brillante” blogs.

1. The winner can put the logo on their blog.
2. Link to the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs you’ve nominated.
And the nominees for “Brillante Weblog” are…
1.  Katheryn, for her wonderful and entertaining blog  about her life with three beautiful boys entitled Seeking Sanity, she makes motherhood look so easy.
2.  My sister Karen over at If I could Escape, who you can thank (or maybe not?) for me being here.  My blood shot eyes and lack of sleep from my new found blogging addiction are all thanks to her.
3.  Sammanthia, who’s posts entitled Eve’s Legacy and Eau De Toilette hooked me line and sinker to her blog The Edge of Insanity.  She’s definitely original and very funny!
4.  Debbie, for her heartwarming blog Three Weddings about raising “three little weddings and down syndrome”.  Very sweet blog and her sister makes some kick @ss jewelry check it out.
5.  Steph for her very open, honest, and humorous writings about her journey with Agoraphobia over at The panic Room.   A subject that hits home for me (no pun intended, you know I think your magnificent Steph).
6.  Frogs Mom at 4 Green and Speckled Frogs, doesn’t the title just make you want to click on it?  Such a cute little blog about one little frog’s journey with Autism.  I have to say little frog has an awesome sister, rightly named, Diva Frog who just made her little brother an awesome book entitled “Dog’s Adventure” for his birthday, very creative.
7.   Elsie Button over at Flower Fairies and Fairy Cakes for her cute stories about little Betty who sounds as cute as a button (again with the puns! Sorry!).  Loved her posts Peachy Cheese and Forbiden Fruit.
Really you should just click around my blogroll all of the blogs I have listed are entertaining in some way or another and as soon as I figure out how to create an award they’ll all have one ~grin~.
