A letter to you… on Valentine’s Day!

Dear Hubby,

Seems like we met so long ago! We both were young and full of life, unaware of what the future had in store for us.  We’ve always had a connection, from the first moment we laid eyes on one another.  You were always  able to make me laugh and brought out the best in me. Erich when you smiled at me I felt like I could do anything, like I had the world at my fingertips.  You ignited a spark in me and from that moment on I couldn’t imagine my life with anyone else.  I remember the many nights we sat on my back porch telling each other our thoughts and dreams.  You encouraged every silly idea I had, remember the Salsa dancing? You’ve been there for some of the best times  and through some of the hardest times in my life.  Thank you!

When my anxiety began it was really hard, yet you stuck by me!  I’ll never forget the night we sat down in the bedroom… I told you to move on and you told me not a chance.  I knew what a challenge my anxiety was going to be and yet once again you reassured me and made me laugh the way only you could.  I loved you so much that night, as cheesy as it may sound, you were my knight in shining armor.  I also cherish the night before our wedding when I wasn’t sure if I could do it, I was nervous about standing up there in front of everyone, you sat me down and told me we were already joined at the heart, the wedding was just our moment to share it with everyone else.  Walking down the aisle towards you I had never been surer about anything in my life!  I was nervous, excited, and ready to share the rest of my life with you!

Just when I thought my cup was full, that it couldn’t get any better, we were blessed with a beautiful baby girl!  She was amazing and we both couldn’t have been happier! Meghan was and is, simply put, AMAZING, easily the best thing either of us has ever done!  Neither of us were prepared for the struggles she’d face and how she would amaze us with her strength!   We had become parents willing to lay down our lives for her and protect her any and every way we could.

We’ve been though a lot in the twelve years we’ve shared and many times we weren’t prepared for how  life could break us down in one moment and build us back up in the next!  Yet, here we are… a bit battered, a bit bruised, but both still working at our relationship and what’s most important to us… our family!  I want you to know how much I love you and how much I appreciate everything you’ve done for me and for our family over the years.  Sometimes life gets in the way and we forget the simple reasons we fell in love in the first place, but one thing I will never regret is the day you walked into my life.  You are my best friend and the love of my life, you’ve given me some of life’s best gifts and I wouldn’t want to share them with anyone else.

I love you infinity +1

Kirsten
