So I saw an advertisement for this topic and decided to watch Oprah and see what all the hoopla was about. I’m confused… I don’t know why there’s so much interest in this story, in my mind, even though legally she is considered male he still has all the makings of a woman, uterus, ovaries, etc. so technically it’s not a medical phenomenon because he was born female. Don’t get me wrong I completely respect that she has decided to live her life as a male and identifies with that gender and in no way am I disgusted by this nor am I opposed to her choices I just don’t get the media frenzy and wondered what other thought?
I worry about posting this because I don’t want lots of hateful posts, I respect their choices and they seem like a loving couple who want to love and raise a child (I will not approve any comments I feel are racist or disrespectful). They say they’re going public tell their story first, but I wonder if the public backlash they may recieve will be worth the publicity? Why does this story deserves more media attention than any other gay couple trying to adopt or deciding to conceive? It makes me wonder if and what People Magazine may be paying for this story?
